International Women’s Day

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control; this is the Echoing Way. The women of Echoing Hills walk in the light of the Lord displaying leadership, friendship, and humility as they seek to encourage girls of the younger generation.

Meet Helen!
Helen enjoys playing games, taking walks, and being around people. Earlier in life, Helen would spend a lot of her time painting. She would say to her younger self to never give up, give yourself a chance, and know that you are strong. Her advice to younger girls is to do what you can and live your life to the fullest, you never know what could happen.

Meet Emmy!
Emmy likes to swim, play games, and spend time with friends and family. While working at Camp Echoing Hills, Emmy met her fiancé and they fell in love while serving together.

To her younger self, she would say, “ Listen to God’s plan for your life, it is far better than yours.” While serving in the Dominican Republic with a local pastor and his family, Emmy said, “It was harder to talk to the men because there is a lower respect for women in those cultures.” She explains that relying on prayer and the Holy Spirit helped her through those situations. To a young girl, she advises, “Don’t worry about the opinions of others, focus on who God says you are!”

Meet Angie!
Angie loves to read, walk outside, and exercise. While exercising she will often listen to a sermon or podcast. When asked what advice she would give to her younger self she states, “The most High God favors you, and He says who you are, not the world. Have peace knowing that His favor surrounds you like a shield and that God knows the plans He has for you, and no force of darkness can take that from you.” She would tell young girls, “Remember who you are because of whose you are, behind every strong and confident woman is God!”

Meet Katerine!
Katerine enjoys shopping and playing games; her favorite colors are green and purple.

She would tell her younger self that she can do hard things. Her advice to young girls is to believe in themselves. Katerine shares that she had a hard time adjusting to Echoing Hills but has found her place here by making close friends.

Meet Jen!
Jen loves to read and play computer solitaire. In the summer of 1978, Jen won a County Commissioner Seat when she was a part of Buckeye Girls State, a program designed to educate young women on what it means to be a good citizen. To her younger self, she would say, “ stay focused on educational goals and learn more about Autism.” She wishes to gain a further understanding of the Autism spectrum. Jen would tell the younger girls to work diligently towards their goals. She explains this is, “a man’s world,” however is unbothered because of the work ethic she has developed. “This world doesn’t owe you anything so do the best with what you have received. The most important thing you can receive is Jesus Christ as your Savior,” she concludes.

Through creating opportunities for multiple interests, Echoing Hills works to empower women within their professional lives while sharing the love of Jesus Christ. “But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (NIV)
